Happy International Women's Month!
Yesterday, the world came together to celebrate women in all their strength and glory. Ethiopian Airlines flew an all-women crew flight, women around South America took to the streets to fight for women's rights, Netflix created a whole playlist of films created by and featuring powerful women - I mean there were lots of amazing things done to celebrate women's achievements so far.
However, as this year's theme, 'Each for Equal' illustrated, there is still a lot that needs to be done to ensure gender equality is a reality for all women around the world. Everyone including you and I have a very important role to play to ensure this happens. In the words of the IWD team,"We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements."
So, as we continue on this women's day wave, I want to challenge you with one simple question, "what will you do today, to stand up, support and celebrate the women around you?" As you think about your answer, I will leave you with one of our favorite poems from Rupi Kaur:
on the sacrifices
of a million women before me
what can i do
to make this mountain taller
so the women after me
can see farther
